With increased consumer demand and some product shortages due to the Japanese earthquake, the best new SUV deals and incentives – May 2011 may seem like slim pickings. Still, there are some good deals to be found. The key, as always, is to be sure the SUV is right for both your needs and your wallet.

U.S. News and World Report serves as our source for the following deals, although if you delve a bit further into individual manufacturers, you may find some deals on SUVs that are strictly regional in nature. Note the following best new SUV deals and incentives May 2011 all expire May 31, 2011.

Through the end of May, if you can find a Pilot on the lot, Honda is offering qualified buyers 1.9 percent financing for up to 36 months on a purchase. Manufacturer’s suggested retail price for the 2011 Honda Pilot (MSRP) ranges from $28,045 (2WD LX) to $40,395 (4WD Touring).

During May, Jeep is offering $1,000 cash back or zero percent financing for up to 36 months in some areas of the country, while other areas offer “as low as” zero percent financing for up to 36 months and $500 cash back on select Patriot models. Starting MSRP ranges from $15,995 to $23,895. Fuel economy is excellent for its compact SUV class at an EPA-estimated 23 mpg city/29 mpg highway.

    the following areas: Northeast, Southeast, Northwest, West and Southwest. EPA rated at 19 mpg city/26 mpg highway, the 2011 Ford Edge has starting prices ranging from $27,455 to $38,310.

  • 2011 Ford EscapeThe compact crossover SUV 2011 Ford Escape has several regional deals that are similar. In the Northeast, Northwest, West and Southwest, Ford is offering $2,000 cash back or zero percent financing for 60 months. In the Southeast the offer is $2,500 cash back or $1,000 cash back plus zero percent financing for 60 months. Starting MSRP ranges from $21,215 to $32,620. EPA fuel economy is rated at an estimated 23 mpg city/28 mpg highway (for the base XLS) up to 34/31 city/highway mpg (for the hybrid).
