Best Tire Brands

Looking for the best tire brands? You’ve come to the right spot. Here at iSeeCars, we’ve compiled a list of the top tire manufacturers doing business in North America – and they are among the world’s best-selling tire makers.

For a source, we’ve consulted Consumer Reports, which provides ratings for more than 16 major brands of replacement tires sold in the United States. Here are some of the major tire brands listed.

  • Goodyear – According to the company, Goodyear claims to be the best-selling North American tire makers – and is one of the world’s leading manufacturers of tires. Goodyear is a major supplier of original equipment and replacement tires, selling tires for most applications. Based in Akron, Ohio, Goodyear also owns the Dunlop and Kelly-Springfield brands of tires which, along with Goodyear tires, have been top-performing tire brands in Consumer Reports testing.
  • Bridgestone – One of the three largest tire makers in the world (Michelin and Goodyear the other two), Bridgestone, headquartered in Nashville, Tennessee, manufactures and markets the following brands: Bridgestone, Firestone, Dayton, and Fuzion tires, along with associated brands. As replacement tires tested by Consumer Reports, Bridgestone and Firestone have performed very well.
  • Michelin -- With its North American headquarters in Greenville, South Carolina, Michelin, a French company, owns the BF Goodrich and Uniroyal tire brands in the United States. Michelin pioneered the first radial tire and continues to be a leader in tire technology. Consumer Reports says that Michelin tires perform impressively in the publication’s all-weather tests and offer a number of models with long tread life and low rolling resistance.
  • Continental – In fourth place in global and North American tire sales, Continental nevertheless offers a full complement of original and replacement tires. The company sells Continental and General tire brands. Continental is a German company and its U.S. tire operations headquarters are in Lancaster County, South Carolina.
