Of course, adding a six-speed automatic transmission ($1,350), 15-inch aluminum wheels and other options to customize the Fiat 500 pop will tack onto the out-the-door price.

2015 Ford Focus S – Sporting a fresh new design inside and out, the 2015 Ford Focus S sedan offers drivers looking for a reasonably-priced yet fun-to-drive small car some interesting options. MSRP begins at $17,170 for the Focus S, standard with a four-cylinder engine and five-speed manual transmission (a six-speed automatic is optional) and rearview camera.

2015 Subaru Impreza 2.0i – The least-expensive 2015 Subaru Impreza is the 2.0i, which includes standard all-wheel drive, the 2.0-liter BOXER four-cylinder engine, five-speed manual transmission, power side mirrors and windows, a rear-vision camera and more for a starting price of $18,195. EPA-estimated fuel economy is up to 28 mpg city/38 mpg highway.

2015 Toyota Corolla L – With its generous list of standard equipment, loads of rear-seat legroom, impressive fuel economy and pleasant ride, the 2015 Toyota Corolla L sedan is priced to please starting from $16,900.

2015 Volkswagen Golf Launch Edition – With its 1.8-liter four-cylinder TSI engine matched with a five-speed manual transmission, the redesigned 2015 Volkswagen Golf, Launch Edition trim (available only as a two-door hatchback), is roomy, versatile, boasts a refined interior, strong acceleration, excellent visibility and easy maneuverability. The price is right as well, starting at $17,995.
