The 1970 model year was particularly difficult for the Firebird. Production of the 1970 models did not start until early 1970 because of engineering problems. They are referred to by many as the 1970 ½  Firebirds. The base price was just under $3,500 for the Formula 400 when it came out in 1970.

Starting on the exterior, it has been fully repainted with fresh black stage 2 paint. It has also received new 1970 Pontiac Firebird Formula 40031970 Pontiac Firebird Formula 4004weather-stripping. The bumper, which is original to the car, has been professionally re-chromed.  It has brand new tires and 15-inch rally wheels. The dealer says there is an all new interior as well.

While looks are important, any enthusiast knows that it’s what’s under the hood that really matters. This Firebird Formula 400 has the original 400 engine, which has been rebuilt with ram air 3-cam upgrade. It also has a rebuilt turbo 400 transmission.
