Coming off the introduction of the, the German automaker of luxury vehicles is making its first foray into the luxury compact SUV market in the United States with the 2015 Audi Q3.
The Audi Q3 makes its U.S. debut at the 2014 North American International Auto Show (NAIAS) in Detroit on January 13, 2014.
With the Q3, the Audi SUV lineup grows to three, adding to the Q5 and Q7 models already in place.
Highlights of the 2015 Audi Q3
Pairing its coupe-like good looks with the capabilities of an SUV, the 2015 Audi Q3 offers quality engineering and advanced features providing consumers the perfect blend of performance and functionality, but also the latest technology and satisfying driving dynamics.
Standard features in the Audi Q3 include a 200-horsepower 2.0-liter TFSI® engine paired with a six-speed Tiptronic transmission; front-wheel drive (Audi quattro® permanent all-wheel drive available); electromechanical power steering with speed-dependent power assist; 18-inch wheels (19-inchers available as an option); panoramic sunroof with power-retractable sunshade; heated, 12-way power front seats; leather seats; Audi xenon plus front lighting with LED daytime running lights and taillights, standard LED interior lighting, and Audi advanced key.
Optional features include the Audi drive select system, which allows driver-adjustable handling and response at the touch of a button. The three drive select modes are: comfort, dynamic and auto.
Other options include a Sport package, which includes front sport seats with adjustable thigh support; Audi MMI navigation plus with a 7.0-inch color monitor; power tailgate with programmable preset opening angle; a Prestige trim package, which includes extended infotainment/convenience features that includes Audi connect®; Bose surround sound system with a 10-channel receiver delivering 465 watts of power to 14 speakers.
Safety features include two front airbags, thorax-pelvis side airbags in the backs of the front seats and side curtain head airbags; safety belt pretensioners and belt force limiters; integral Audi head restraint system; electronic stability control with off-road mode and hill descent assist.
Available safety equipment includes Audi side assist with radar technology to help make lane changing safer; Driver Assistance package, including Audi side assist and Audi parking system with rearview camera.
On the inside, the five-passenger Audi Q3 provides a luxurious and comfortable environment for driving enjoyment. The seats are ergonomically designed with superior build quality. Audi boasts that the interior craftsmanship is second to none, with meticulous attention paid to the selection of materials, processing, and overall fit and finish.
Storage capacity is 16.2 cubic feet in the cargo area, while it grows to 48.2 cubic feet when the split rear seatbacks are folded down.
The Audi connect infotainment system, available when the Prestige trim package is ordered includes:
- On-board AUDI MMI navigation plus system enhanced with Google Earth™ maps
- myAudi Destination, allowing users to log into Google Earth™ and download up to 50 destinations to the vehicle from virtually any U.S. location
- Real-time SiriusXM® Traffic information (active SiriusXM® Traffic subscription required)
- Factory-fitted, in-vehicle Wi-Fi connectivity for passenger use, enabling connectivity for up to eight wireless devices
- Real-time localized weather, news and live fuel prices
- Google Voice™ Local Search, providing detailed information on travel destinations, including hours of operation at restaurants or hotels, pricing and customer reviews
The 2015 Audi Q3 will be available in U.S. dealerships in the Fall of 2014. Pricing will be announced closer to availability.
