With the success of the Blacktop packages already offered on the, Challenger, Avenger, Journey and Grand Caravan, Dodge is making this aggressive look available to the 2014 , beginning this spring.
Unique Exterior/Interior Features
Details provided by Dodge on the 2014 Dart Blacktop edition, to be showcased at the 2014 North American International Auto Show in Detroit, include the fact that it is based on the mid-level 2014 Dart SXT with Rally Appearance Group.
On the exterior, the Blacktop package adds the following as standard equipment: gloss black mirrors and unique 18-inch gloss black aluminum alloy wheels. These are in addition to the features already on the Dart SXT and Rally Appearance Group, including gloss black mask, split crosshair grille, projector fog lamps, dark-tinted projector headlamps, LED racetrack tail lamps, integrated dual exhaust, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, Bluetooth connectivity, remote keyless entry, and more.
The Dart Blacktop edition is available in Redline Red, Header Orange, Blue Streak, Granite Crystal Metallic, Billet Silver, Pitch Black and Bright White exterior colors.
Inside the Dart Blacktop model, unique interior details include a Black and Ruby Red two-tone premium cloth interior with Ruby Red accent stitching on the center console, instrument panel brow and seat bolsters, front seats with dual Ruby Red accent stripes, and door trim panels also featuring Ruby Red accents. Available as an option is a Black/Light Tungsten cloth interior.
Dodge says that the Dart’s new Blacktop package “complements” the “freshened” 2014 Dart lineup, which features the 2.4-liter MultiAir2 Tigershark engine that delivers 184 horsepower and 174 pound-feet of torque (now standard on the 2014 Dart SXT and Limited models, and unique calibration on Dart GT models).
The Tigershark engine is matched with a standard six-speed manual transmission, although a six-speed automatic tranny is also available.
The Dart Blacktop is equipped with a full complement of airbags, including dual front, front seat-mounted side airbags, side-curtain front/rear airbags, driver and front passenger knee-bolster airbags, and rear seat side airbags. Other standard safety features on the 2014 Dodge Dart Blacktop include electronic stability control, all-speed traction control, electronic roll mitigation, hill start assist, speed control, front-seat reactive headrests and three rear seat head restraints.
The 2014 Dodge Dart has received a Top Safety Pick designation from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS). The 2014 Dart also earned a five-star overall safety rating from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).
The following options are available on the Dart Blacktop edition, as with all Dart SXT models:
- Sun and Sound group – which includes a power express open/close sunroof; nine Alpine speakers with subwoofer, 506-watt amplifier; Uconnect 8.4 CD/MP3 radio with 8.4-inch touchscreen; iPod control; SiriusXM Satellite Radio with 12-month subscription; ParkView rear backup camera
- Navigation and Cold Weather group – including heated front premium cloth seats; heated exterior mirrors; tire pressure monitoring display, and remote start (automatic transmission-equipped models)
Pricing on the 2014 Dodge Dart SXT Blacktop is just $295 above that of the regular Dart SXT with the Rally Appearance Group. Total starting price is $21,275, including destination charge.
