This is in the realm of now I’ve heard it all. Yet there is a certain appeal in the limited edition 2017 #PinkBeetle that Volkswagen has just announced will be on sale this fall.
No, this isn’t a commercial for Mary Kay Cosmetics. And, no, it isn’t a joke that Volkswagen is playing on the motoring public.
Actually, the #PinkBeetle was enthusiastically received when it appeared as a concept vehicle at the 2015 New York Auto Show. It’s also, curiously enough, the first ever vehicle to have its own official vehicle hashtag – if you care about that sort of thing.
As for how many are coming to the U.S., Volkswagen is mum about that, only stating that it will be offered “in limited quantities across the United States.” Hmm…might that mean the little 2017 #PinkBeetle will command higher-than-sticker prices? Oh, wait, we don’t know what the MSRP is yet. VW says that little detail will be revealed closer to actual production and on-sale date.
