While you’re enjoying the opportunity for summertime vacations and spending time with loved ones and family at home, you may want to take a peek at a few new product offerings that will soon be available from various automakers. There’s surely something here to like for everyone in the family. Even though they are a few months off, there’s always time to dream and plan ahead – if you’re interested. Included here are luxury and affordable SUVs, sedans and coupes – more than enough to whet your appetite for what’s coming soon (or in some cases, is already on sale).
2016 – The occasion was the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance, an event that anchors Monterey Car Week every August in Monterey, California. Lexus chose this occasion to spotlight the redesigned eight-passenger luxury SUV, the 2016 Lexus LS 570. Highlights include a powerful 383-horsepower, 5.7-liter V8 engine, new eight-speed automatic transmission, sophisticated four-wheel drive chassis, 20-inch split 10-spoke wheels, standard LED headlights, turn signals and fog lights, sweeping exterior design changes, standard panoramic view camera, standard climate concierge, new standard safety features (including Lexus Safety System+, Blind Spot Monitor with Rear Cross-Traffic Alert, and tire-specific tire pressure monitoring system), and a 7,000-pound towing capacity.
2016 Lexus GS 200t – Also at the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance, Lexus unveiled the redesigned 2016 Lexus GS midsize luxury sedan and showed off a new third model, a rear-wheel drive GS 200t. The GS, known for its agility and sporty handling, continues to embrace spirited driving with the 2016 GS 200t. The Lexus GS will be available in GS 200t, GS 350 and GS 450h. Power for the GS 200t comes from a 241-horsepower 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission. The GS 350 gets a more muscular 311-horsepower 3.5-liter V6 engine and an eight-speed automatic transmission. The high-performing hybrid, the GS 450h, has a 338 total system horsepower from the combination of Atkinson cycle 3.5-liter V6 engine and water-cooled permanent magnet electric motor. The F Sport package will be available for all three 2016 Lexus GS models.
2016 – If luxury in a go-anywhere sport utility vehicle is your thing, check out this brief preview of the eight-passenger 2016 Toyota Land Cruiser. Toyota’s given the 2016 Land Cruiser a new look inside and out, significantly upgraded the SUV’s drivetrain, added an extensive list of new safety technology and enhanced multimedia features. Power comes from a 381-horsepower 5.7-liter V8 engine matched with Toyota’s first eight-speed automatic transmission. The best part about the 2016 Land Cruiser is that it comes with everything standard. There’s no need to add anything and there’s only a single model. With a trailer towing package, the Land Cruiser can tow up to 8,500 pounds. Every 2016 Land Cruiser also comes standard with ToyotaCare, a complimentary plan covering scheduled maintenance and 24-hour roadside assistance for two years or 25,000 miles, whichever comes first.
2016 – What can we say about the wickedly exciting 2016 Acura NSX, an all-new mid-engine supercar from the luxury arm of Honda? Oh, guess we just did. Acura used the occasion of a motorsports gathering at The Quail in Carmel-by-the-Sea in California to unveil a trio of the 2016 NSX models. Enthusiasts and the general public can’t help but be interested. The 2016 NSX is the first build-to-order model from Acura. Each will feature an extensive list of options.
2016 – With a slimmed-down new design and more emphasis on family-friendly features, the 2016 Honda Pilot eight-passenger SUV aims to amp up its appeal with consumers who want or need the practical, roomy and versatile nature of this full-size SUV. The new Pilot is some 3.5 inches longer, about an inch shorter and 300 pounds lighter. Ground clearance is slightly reduced, which makes it easier to get in and out of the Pilot. The 3.5-liter direct-injected V6 engine is enhanced to make 280 horsepower (a 30 horsepower boost from the 2015 model). As for safety, the 2016 Pilot has standard the Honda LaneWatch side-camera system. The starting base price for the 2016 Honda Pilot is $29,995.
2016 – Distinctive, practical and affordable, the 2016 Honda Accord boasts not only new styling, but also a new top-of-the-line Touring trim for the Accord coupe, and the availability of 19-inch wheels for the first time ever on an Accord. Other highlights include: the first-ever application of optional Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto™ on a Honda. The 2016 Accord sedan and coupe is on sale now with a starting price of $22,105 (sedan LX with six-speed manual transmission) and $23,775 for the Accord coupe LX-S (with six-speed manual transmission).
2017 Coupe – Meanwhile, over in Stuttgart, Germany, Mercedes-Benz unveiled the all-new 2017 C-Class coupe. Available in C300 and C300 4MATIC models, the 2017 Mercedes-Benz C-Class coupe arrives in U.S. dealerships in the spring of 2016. The C-Class coupe is longer, lighter weight, roomier inside for driver and front passenger and offers numerous standard features, including: LED headlights, PRE-SAFE, keyless start, a panoramic sunroof and sport suspension. A Sport Appearance package features bumpers and sills with AMG bodystyling, 18-inch AMG light-alloy wheels and more. Safety systems from the Mercedes-Benz Intelligent Drive concept that are standard, including attention assist and collision-prevention assist plus. Optional safety systems include Distronic plus with steering assist, BAS brake assist system, enhanced active lane-keeping assist, and PRE-SAFE plus. Other options include active parking assist and a 360-degree camera.
