Buyers of luxury cars are a finicky lot. They know what they want and they’re willing to pay for the best. Still, not all luxury cars are equal. Some engender more admiration and respect than others.

How do you know if a luxury car is really worth it? That’s easy. It’s worth it if you’d buy it again. Consumer Reports annual owner satisfaction study asked its subscribers to give their opinion in various categories, including luxury cars. According to the results of the survey, here are the top 5 luxury cars consumers would buy again.

Audi A7 – 90 percent – There’s no question that buyers of the Audi A7 feel like a winner with their purchase. With 90 percent of them saying they’d do it all over again

and buy the same car again, who can argue? What’s the attraction? Try distinctive styling, a beautiful interior, strong and efficient 310-horsepower supercharged V-6 engine, eight-speed automatic transmission and all-wheel drive, plus more cargo versatility than a regular sedan. Besides all this, the Audi A7, which debuted for the 2012 year, rides like a luxury sedan yet handles like a touring coupe. No wonder buyers love it.

Lexus GS – 89 percent – Redesigned for 2013, the Lexus GS adds interior room, more features and sharper handling to make it a top contender in the midsize luxury

The 2013 Lexus GS is also a Top Safety Pick of the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS). Equip the GS the way you want, including a luxury package that provides 18-way power driver seat, adaptive headlamps, adaptive suspension, rear climate control, wood-trimmed steering wheel and upgraded leather. Or, really go all out and get the F Sport package, for the ultimate in luxury sports sedan handling in the Lexus GS.
